MAIN ATTRACTIVES
NATURE'S SANCTUARY - ORBICULAR GRANITE

The Orbicular Granite Nature Sanctuary is a coastal area of ​​about 400 m2. It is located 11 km from Caldera, north of the extensive Rodillo beach, in the III Region of Atacama.

On the beach there is a geological outcrop made up of granite rocks with elliptical orbicles. The orbicular body has a granodioritic matrix, with a porphyritic texture. The orbicles are ellipsoidal, with an average diameter of 7 cm, and are composed of a doritic nucleus and a dark shell with a radial texture, composed of similar amounts of plagioclase and amphibole, with smaller amounts of clinopyroxene, biotite, and magnetite.

PAN DE AZÚCAR NATIONAL PARK

The Pan de Azúcar National Park is located in the coastal sector of the Antofagasta and Atacama regions, in the Antofagasta province, Taltal commune and the Chañaral province, in the commune of the same name. It was created on May 6, 1986.

The Park stands out for the protection of fauna species such as the guanaco, the Humboldt penguin and the yunco duck. As far as flora is concerned, it has an eminently xerophytic character. That is, species adapted to the lack of water. Cactaceae stand out, both columnar and globose.

Its main trekking trails are:

- Mirador Trail;
- Sendero Mirador Máximo Villaflor;
- Aguada Los Sapos Trail;
- Quebrada del Castillo Trail.

In addition, you can practice cycling, sport fishing, boat expeditions, kayaking, flora and fauna observation.
